How Does Over-Protective Affect on Children with Disabilities?

Do you know we have 163,000 children with disabillities in Ukraine?

According to official figures from the State Statistics Service, there are 2,700,000 persons with disabilities in Ukraine, of whom more than 163,000 are children. Today, the social adaptation problem of children with disabilities is very acute. Among all the factors, social adaptation is also harmed by over-protective, namely round-the-clock custody, which negatively affects and stops the development of independence for children with disabilities.

Psychologists argue that over-protective leads to consequences such as the child`s isolation from the environment, the interruption of cognitive and social development, development of dependence, incapacity, infantilism, self-doubt, сontradictory trends in personality formation, lack of timely communication skills, etc.

That is why, TulSun Foundation team created the “Montessori for Everyone” project, which helps children with disabilities learn to be self-sufficient in order to be sure of their future.
